CREST ANZ will soon announce a new accreditation framework for matching cyber security skills, competencies and proficiencies with 'best in class' global cyber security accreditation, to define a practice standard for specific career pathways in Australia.
What's that really mean?CREST ANZ will identify the standard career pathways in cyber security in Australia and the skills, competencies and proficiencies needed at the start, mid-point and peak of that career path.
For each career path point, we'll find, test and select the 'best in class' accreditation available.
And we will define the required experience and other, non-technical competences and proficiencies required.
We will be guided by Federal Government standards and practices available for use in the commercial sector.
We'll bundle the accreditation and non-technical requirements into Australian career paths for our accredited individuals.
We'll make sure training and exams are available here in Australia.
And we'll seek Government, Academic and Industry support for our framework and promotion of our accredited individuals.
This will set a new national standard of 'best in class' cyber security practice in Australia.
So, what does this mean for you?Individuals will be CREST ANZ accredited within each career pathway using 'Best of Breed' globally recognised exams and training obtained through vetted global service providers.
CREST ANZ will now recognise many different accreditations from many different providers.
You can make the choice of accreditations you want and the exams you do. If the accreditation is on our 'best in class' list, you are eligible to be a CREST ANZ accredited individual.
If you have an existing 'best in class' accreditation, you may be eligible for CREST ANZ individual accreditation without sitting any further technical exams.
If you already have CREST certifications, we will continue to recognise it through a generous transition period.
What's the catch?Moving forward, CREST ANZ will develop its own Australian standards-based training in the ethics, governance, legal, commercial and communications aspects of practising cyber security. CREST ANZ accredited individuals will need to maintain certification in these critical areas.
Over time, we will expand the framework to other areas deemed relevant by our accredited individuals, member companies and the cyber security buying market.
A public announcement and a new updated website is anticipated to be developed and operational soon after our next CREST ANZ AGM in September 2020.
You might still want to undertake the CREST examinations, and you can find out all about how to do this here.
